Ultimate Training Camp (several locations/dates)
Spend 4-6 days in Minnesota, Colorado, Boston or Santa Barbara with 50-150 other athletes. You will grow in your relationship with God, understand more deeply how God & sport connect and how to worship God through your sport, and have an amazing time competing and worshipping God with athletes from around the country. http://www.athletesinaction.org/take-action/camps
Urban Project Los Angeles (Three Weeks in June)
At the UP-LA nearly 50 staff and students live together in community in one huge house for three life-changing weeks. Lives, meals, joys, sorrows, laughs, cries, and plenty of late night conversations and hysterics are shared as we seek to learn and to love. Collegiate student-athletes will be challenged to worship God through their sport and their lives as student-athletes. While teaching the students how to honor and uphold the testimony of Jesus Christ in their athletic and personal lives, the UP-LA also focus on tackling the issues of culture, racism, class, power, poverty, privilege, responsibility, and social justice, and what the Gospel of Christ has to say about these ever-relevant and important issues. The thesis of the UP-LA is found in Luke 4:16-21 where Jesus tells the world that He has come to “preach the gospel to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed, and to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”
South Africa (Last 2.5 Weeks of July)
A two-week project that will help launch and grow AIA ministries at universities in Cape Town. An Ultimate Training Camp (see above) with South African student-athletes is included! We also seek to partner with friends in townships and serve with them. During your two weeks you will also learn the Biblical principles for athletic competition and be challenged and equipped to grow in your relationship with God while you receive training in how to share the good news of Jesus with others. This training will provide you with skills and valuable experience to minister cross-culturally. Finally, you will have time most days to train for your sport. BONUS: Kelly Scott has been seen there, sometimes roaming with lions.
Team Tours (one to three weeks)
https://goaia.org/ (click on Opportunities and see Sports on left)
Travel with a competitive collegiate team of other athletes in your sport from around the country. On every tour, there will be AIA staff who will help the team grow together in Christ. You will train or compete almost every day. You will be partnering with local churches and ministries to help them serve and reach their communities through activities like sports camps. You will learn how to more effectively communicate your faith to others as you grow together in Christ.
Boston Project (Three Weeks in June - 2020)
Participate in the Boston Ultimate Training Camp and then continue on in community with 20-25 student-athletes, learning how to communicate your faith and pioneer athletic ministries at universities within the city of Boston. You will have time each day to train for your sport. Bonus: Amy Dodd will be there.
